FCE and SID pathway
More than completing a form
Processors of shelf-stable acidified foods and low-acid canned foods in hermetically sealed containers—including foreign processors exporting to the United States—may need to register the establishment and file scheduled processes with FDA.
- Product classification: acid, acidified or low-acid
- Food Canning Establishment registration support
- Form FDA 2541e for acidified processes
- Forms FDA 2541d, 2541f or 2541g for LACF
- Critical-factor and process-schedule review
- Supplemental SIDs and filing corrections
- FDA deficiency and correspondence response
- Process Authority documentation
Canadian exporters
One product may need both Canadian and U.S. workstreams
FDA filing does not replace Canadian compliance. A Canadian processor may require a B.C. or CFIA food-safety pathway for domestic operations and a separate FDA FCE/SID pathway for U.S. exports. We keep the documents aligned while distinguishing the legal requirements.
See the Canadian pathwayFiling depends on the product and process. Each product, style, container size/type and processing method must be assessed. A letter or prior filing for one configuration should not be assumed to cover another.
